John Rachor


John Rachor was elected to the Jackson County Board of Commissioners in November of 2010 and sworn into office on January 3, 2011.  Commissioner Rachor serves as the Vice Chair of the Board for 2013.

For the 2013 calendar year, Commissioner Rachor is the Board liaison to the following County departments and/or committees:  Airport, Assessor, Development Services (including Jackson County Planning Commission), Fairgrounds/Expo, Library (including Library Advisory Committee and Law Library Advisory Committee), and the Board of Commissioners' Natural Resources Advisory Committee.

Commissioner Rachor also serves as liaison to the following:  Association of Oregon Counties (AOC), Association of O & C Counties, Chamber Land Use Action Team, Governor's Executive Order 12-07 Program, Housing Authority of Jackson County (HAJC), Inland Rogue Local Advisory Committee, and National Association of Counties (NACo). 


Commissioner Rachor is a fourth generation Oregonian having family that settled in the Days Creek area of Douglas County in the late 1800s.  John graduated from South Umpqua High School and then Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls.  He served in Vietnam with the U.S. Navy Seabees.  John comes from the private sector having developed and operated all 11 Burger King Restaurants in Southern Oregon over the last 33 years while employing up to 500 people at a time.  He also donates the use of his private helicopter to Jackson County Search and Rescue.  John has been married to his wife, Susan, for over 42 years.  They have two adult children, Ben and Katie, and two grandchildren. Both John and Sue Rachor are members of Jackson County Republican Women.
